NL Central preview

  • Cincinnati Reds
  • St Louis Cardinals
  • Chicago Cubs
  • Houston Astros
  • Pittsburgh Pirates
  • Milwaukee Brewers

As the only division in baseball with six teams, the NL Central is normally a tough place to win. Then again, two of those teams are the Pittsburgh Pirates and Houston Astros. The favorites to win the NL Central right is probably a three-way tie between St Louis Cardinals, Milwaukee Brewers and the Cincinnati Reds. The Reds, led by some great young talent, ended up being the best in division, if not the NL, last year. But they’ll face a tough field intent on making gone last run. The Cardinals will be hoping to make the most of what could be the last year with Albert Pujols in the lineup. And the Brewers have gone all in again, trading away a a fair share of their prospects to acquire Zach Greinke. They’ve been a sneaky-good team for awhile, and if they play to their abilities could end up making the post-season for the first time since CC Sabathia threw the team on his back.

And the Astros and the Pirates… Well they have some very promising young stars, but what else is new. Both teams have a long way to go before they can think about asking the playoffs again, but the young stars is a good place to start.
